Sunday’s Six Nations Rugby Tips

Sunday, March 12: 3pm
TV: RTE 2, BBC1

This is going to be an exciting and defining Six Nations encounter between Scotland and Ireland at Murrayfield on Sunday. Now, while Scotland are underdogs, head coach Gregor Townsend has been talking his side up as world beaters. The time is nigh for Scotland, and they certainly won’t have to go looking for this Irish team, that’s for sure.

Ireland have been hugely impressive, they’ve had an excellent campaign. They can expect to welcome back the likes of Tadhg Furlong and Robbie Henshaw, and obviously they rested Johnny Sexton and Garry Ringrose against the Italians in their 20-34 victory.

Ireland Halftime/Fulltime

Scotland play a wide and expansive game, but I think that will suit Ireland, and I expect Ireland to have too much for Scotland at the weekend. Quite simply, Ireland are a better side than Scotland.

Scotland have only beaten Ireland twice in the last 10 years. The last victory came back in 2017 at Murrayfield. The last time the sides met in Edinburgh, Ireland won 27-24 and there was a 21 point difference between the sides last year at the Aviva in Dublin. I’m expecting an Ireland victory, and I’m going withthe visitors in the Halftime/Fulltime market.

Tadhg Furlong to Score Anytime

Tadhg Furlong is back and it’s going to be a wide and expansive game. Amongst all the madness of this running game that the Scots are playing I think there’ll be a bit more room around the scrum and Ireland can match that and come out on top.

Furlong is world class, and he’s also a big-time player, and I can see the prop forward getting across the line.
