Six Nations tips: Our trader’s 8 best bets for Rugby’s Super Saturday

Paddy's top rugby trader Ciaran Heuze delivers his slick picks for this weekend's action.

Ciaran’s in top condition heading into the final scheduled weekend after all three of his selections crossed the whitewash in style last time out. He picked Ireland and England to Win as well as Wales on the half-time handicap. So, can he do it again? Here’s his best bets for Super Saturday.

2.15pm: Scotland v Italy

The handicap here is high 20s and I think that’s the highest Scotland have gone into a game against Italy. It just shows how poor Italy have been so far in this Championship. I think we are expecting another easy win here for the Scots.

They’ve named quite an experimental line up with Stuart Hogg at 10 but it looks like an attacking team and I can see another try-fest here and another heavy defeat for Italy, so I think we’re happy to bet on the handicap this weekend with Scotland (-28).

(-28)

Huw Jones is in at 13 which is unusual for him but he’s in at 13 here so I think you’ll get a better price on him to score than usual. Look out for Huw Jones to Score Anytime.

4.45pm: Ireland v England

We were hoping this might be a Championship decider coming into the weekend but unfortunately both teams are out of it but that still doesn’t take away from what should be a great game with St Patrick’s Day and all that. I think Ireland have suffered a couple of blows during the week with James Ryan and Garry Ringrose out so that does just shift it to England.

England are also coming in on a high after last week’s victory over France so I would be looking at England to Win here. I think it will be tight but I can also see England being in control for the vast majority of the game.

If you fancy England to win it, take a look at the England Half Time/Full Time. I think there could be some value there.

In terms of a try scorer, for England Anthony Watson has already got four in the championship and he’ll be eying up that top try-scorer individual award for himself. He’s currently favourite in the market but I think that’s about right given his performances to date and I’d back Watson to Score Anytime.

8pm: Wales v France

I think many wrote France off after they lost to England last weekend and have Wales as shoe-ins to win the Championship but, if you look at it, France still have a decent shout. To sum it up, they probably need to win big here and that’s reflected in the handicap.

At the start of the week, France were -6 on the handicap and that’s gone out to -8. I think that reflects people’s thoughts that if France win it’s going to have to be by a decent margin. I think they are well capable of that.

They didn’t perform badly last week when they came up against an England side that just had too much for them. But I think if France perform like they have done in this Championship they should have too much for Wales here, and could win by a decent margin so I’d be looking at France (-8) on the handicap.

(-8)

I also think France to Win by 13+ Points is definitely worth a look this weekend. Antoine Dupont has probably been below par by his standard last time out but he’s certainly shown himself to be eager at ruck time and always looking for an opportunity so I think Dupont can Score Anytime here. Dupont is also a good bet for Man Of The Match at the moment.
