Saturday 2:15pm: England v Italy
ITV1/Virgin Media One
England -37 (Handicap Betting)
Italy were beaten by 40 points last week, and I can see a similar scoreline here.
England will be eager to bounce back from the shock opening day defeat to Scotland, and I didn’t see anything from Italy against France that would suggest they can get within shooting distance at Twickenham.
Luke Cowan-Dickie Anytime Tryscorer
If you are looking for value in the Tryscorer market, watch out for Luke Cowan-Dickie, who replaces Jamie George to start at hooker. We know England like to kick to the corner and get the rolling maul working, which would give Cowan-Dickie a great chance to snoop for the line at the back of that maul.
Saturday 4:45pm: Scotland v Wales
BBC 1/Virgin Media One
Scotland will obviously be on a high after last week, and the fact they’re favourites on the handicap is a fair reflection on both team’s performances. They opened up -3 last week, but understandably that’s been gobbled up. I think the value on the handicap now lies with Wales.
The Scots have a habit of not backing up big performances, and in a match that traditionally throws up close encounters, I’d side with Wales on the handicap now.
George Turner Anytime Tryscorer
In the Tryscorer markets, I’m siding with another hooker in George Turner. He may be the third choice, but his tryscoring record at test level reads as six from 12 games, which makes him good value to score in this match. Again, I expect Scotland to use that rolling maul so watch out for Turner at the back.
