We’ve decided to refund ALL cash bets on Paddy’s Perfect Challenge after the spectacular snookering success of Shaun Murphy in making a maximum break during our two-hour triple-sport extravaganza.
Many great minds – and not-so-great ones tbf – have contemplated the intricacies involved in the completing a maximum break in snooker, a nine-darter in ‘arrers and a hole-in-one in golf.
And with Paddy Power sponsoring this year’s PDC World Championship at the Ally Pally, we decided to pit some of the top performers in the sport against one another in Paddy’s Perfect Challenge on Wednesday afternoon in a bid to settle the enduring question as to which is the toughest.
And while we might not have come up with a definitive answer, we most definitely did find a winner as our snooker pairing of former world champions Mark Williams and Shaun Murphy compiled several near-miss breaks before Murphy completed a perfect clearance with just minutes remaining to see off the other contenders.

It meant that any punters who backed the snooker players to complete their sport’s perfect performance were awarded with a 5/1 winner over the favoured darts champs and the outsider golfers.
The Magician, 42, may have felt a malevolent spell had been cast upon him when he missed a brown off its spot just four pots from the maximum minutes earlier, but he conjured up a stunning comeback to complete the trick shortly after as Williams watched on, along with darts world champions Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries, who were toiling to hit the perfect out over on the dartboard.
MVG came closest as he nailed seven perfect darts in a row, but it wasn’t to be for the dartists, while pro golfers’ Matt Wallace and Ross Fisher attempts to land the hole-in-one challenge simultaneously at the Hertsmere Golf Club in London also landed in the proverbial rough despite the support of Peter Crouch, Tony Bellew and Paddy Power himself.
But we weren’t going to let that disappoint anyone who took a swing at our market on the one-off contest, so as the punter’s pal, we thought everyone who took a staking interest deserved a break so we’ve refunded ALL cash bets!
Anyone canny enough to have taken up our free bet on the event will have to be pleased with the thrill of the ride as they are not refunded, but punters who staked their own cash will get their money back.
Paddy’s Perfect Challenge is all part of our build-up to the Paddy Power PDC World Championship as it gets under way on December 15th, where we’ve announced that we’ll be donating £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 scored during the tournament as part of the BIGGER 180 campaign, while also putting up a colossal £180,000 bonus every time a player nails a nine-darter. The mega prize will be split equally between Prostate Cancer UK, the player who throws the perfect leg, and one lucky fan in the iconic Ally Pally crowd.
We’re hoping the practice session at Paddy’s Perfect Challenge will serve them well when the real darts starts in a few weeks.
