Paddy Power employee Ryan O’Sullivan has achieved the ultimate human endeavour – scaling Mount Everest while wearing a pair of ill-fitting, itchy green pants.
That’s right, our man has harnessed the full power of Paddy’s patented green briefs to power up the 8,849m beast and plant them proudly at the peak, like a modern day Edmund Hillary, if you will.
After slowly working his way up the mountain over several weeks, the colossal final cimb to the summit took seven hours and our intrepid explorer bravely/madly left base camp in a snow storm and experienced temperatures as cold as -40 degrees.
And you thought it was cold on the west coast in December
Ryan reached the peak at 4:35am on the 24th of May, climbing through the night, and was rewarded with a clear morning when he reached the summit and arrived just in the time to watch the sun rise over the world and witnessed Everest cast its shadow over Nepal and the rest of the planet.
He’s since made it back down safely having somehow managed to capture some epic pics at the top, even managing to get a pair on him while he was up there, much to the dismay of his Sherpa.
So, a hearty congratulations to Ryan – your place in the Pants Bants Hall Of Fame is cemented forever.
