Rhodri Giggs: If the club don’t stick with Solsjkaer now – the United way is gone

Give it Ole. Paddy Power Loyalty ambassador Rhodri Giggs says there's only one man who deserves to be Manchester United's next manager ...

Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer

I’m still a Man United fan – even though I couldn’t watch them after the story of what Ryan did came out.

I’m over it and love the club just as much now.

The last 10 games, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come in have been great. It’s been back to old ways. Lots of goals, lots of chances, it’s been good to sit down and watch again.

If the club doesn’t stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now the United way is gone.

You have to give a new manager time. If we didn’t give Sir Alex Ferguson time, 30 odd years ago, we wouldn’t have the history we now have.

I know times have changed but, instead of giving someone five years, give them two instead.

David Moyes was the wrong decision, Van Gaal was a bad decision, then the board went for Jose Mourinho – so they’ve made three bad decisions.

They need to make the right appointment this summer.

And If Ole keeps doing what he’s doing, it’s an easy decision for me.

Alex Ferguson

All this ‘baby-faced assassin’ rubbish, acting like he’s a soft touch – he is not a soft touch.

He will tell people what’s wrong. He’s a big student of the game and he looks at what Sir Alex did – when people needed to be told, he told them.

Mike Phelan’s return has obviously helped. No one knows the club better than him.

I honestly think Jose Mourinho orchestrated the sack. He’s such a good coach but what United were playing was awful. Look at the improvement now – they’re not bad players.

Things people do to get a £15m pay-off!

I wasn’t over the moon when it happened, but the football was awful though, I’d just fall asleep watching it.

They were rubbish. Just so negative. It became toxic around the place, and that’s what made the decision to sack him, the right one.

I wasn’t calling for Mauricio Pochettino to take over though. I’m a fan of his, but he hasn’t won anything.

Would he win stuff with United? I don’t know.

United will get in the top four this season. Chelsea and Arsenal are struggling.
