Oh man, it’s a cruel world for goalkeepers.

When a keeper makes a mistake that leads to a goal, there’s no hiding, no matter how much they might want the turf to open up and deliver them from the guffaws emanating from the stands behind them. That would surely have been the case for New York City FC custodian Sean Johnson, who had a bit of a “moment” in his team’s away fixture against the mighty Minnesota United last night.

In the 32nd minute, with the score neatly poised at 2-2, Johnson received a harmless backpass from a team-mate. Not a problem for a keeper of his quality, you’d think.

Except, well, it really was:
