Irish Champions weekend: Stable staff to cash in with enhanced Paddy Power prize

Stable staff set to be winners off the track with Paddy Power €5k bonus in sponsored race

Leopardstown- (I)

In conjunction with their sponsorship of the Paddy’s Rewards Club Stakes (Group 3) at Leopardstown on Longines Irish Champions Weekend, Paddy Power are putting up some cash prizes specifically for stable staff.

Thanks to Paddy Power’s loyalty club, Paddy’s Rewards Club, the title sponsors of the 4:55pm at Leopardstown on Saturday, the ‘Best Turned Out’ prize will be enhanced from €250 to €1000 and the stable staff connected to the winning horse will receive a €5000 bonus to share among their team.

Paddy Power spokesperson, Tom Nugent, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to put up some extra prize money specifically for stable staff. While the public might only see horses on the track, the stable staff are there 365-days-a-year caring for them and grafting away in all types of weather.”

They keep the show on the road and Paddy Power are very pleased to have the chance to support them in this way.

Paddy Power Racing Ambassador, Ruby Walsh, said; “There’ll be some grooming and plaiting done on Saturday to see who can do the best job. It’s a lovely incentive for the Stable Staff. Whoever wins it will be having a big party! Any bonus that incentivises staff in any business or any operation is always very welcome.”

Pat Keogh, Chief Executive of Leopardstown said; “The hard work and dedication of stable staff is often unseen and we are delighted to support this initiative by Paddy Power to recognise this integral backbone of our industry.”

Bernard Caldwell, Chief Executive of the Irish Stable Staff Association commented; “The Irish Stable Staff Association are delighted with the introduction of this initiative by Paddy Power. These generous bonuses will be very well received by the industry and in particular by the hard-working grooms who are a vital part of horseracing.”
