Betting suspended on Royal Baby being born this week

Following a flood of bets we reckon a royal arrival is imminent…

The Royal Baby could be set to arrive sooner than expected, after we’ve seen a flurry of bets on the baby being born this week.

The sudden activity, which began on Monday morning, has prompted us to stop accepting bets on the birth taking place on or before Sunday. This may be due to the installation of barriers at the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s hospital in London.

As of Sunday night, the odds were 12/1 for the baby to be born this week. Kensington Palace previously announced the baby would be born in 2018 – but did not give a specific date.

Since betting on the name of William & Kate’s third child began, Mary has consistently held the top spot and is now 3/1 to be the name of choice. Edward is the top rated male name at 8/1.

Asked about the bundle of joy spokesman Paddy Power said: “The speculation around the arrival of the Royal Baby has been going into overdrive, and our punters certainly think it’s going to happen soon.

“We’re now convinced it’s going to be this week, and Mary is certainly the name of choice from our punters, who have been backing that name for months.”
