This morning, we suspended betting on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announcing their pregnancy – after punters lumped on the market this week.
Since the pair announced their engagement, we reported ‘a series of bets’ on Harry and Meghan confirming that they’re expecting a child together in 2018.
We had already slashed odds on a pregnancy being announced next year – it was odds-on at 4/6 last night – before deciding to pull the market from its site this morning.
Now, we’ve added a new market, the name of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first-born, which lists Henry, Alice, Harry and Arthur as the favourites (all 10/1). Diana is a 16/1 shot.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “The engagement announcement seemed to come quite suddenly, and the decision to pencil in the ceremony for May – with so many details immediately confirmed – has clearly stoked the interest of our punters.
“The traffic we’ve seen on this market has prompted us to cut the price again and again this week until, finally, this morning, our traders had to suspend betting on it. It looks like the Royal Wedding could well be a shotgun wedding.”
