Punting Hall of Fame: What a weekend for one punter who turned £1 into £18k on a League One twelve-fold

This lucky punter correctly predicted every single League One result on Saturday

As weekends go, seeing every single result in League One come in to the tune of £17,952 is about as good as it gets.

One punter from Kent woke up on Saturday morning, rolled over and picked up his iPhone, and placed a twelve-fold accumulator on each game in League one, staking just one pound.

He went for ten wins and two draws and waited patiently as the results began to slowly trickle in, not without their complications.

It probably looked like a write-off from the start in the early kick-off, as he picked Millwall to beat Oxford United as his first selection. Liam Sercombe found the net after half an hour to put Oxford ahead. It seems Steve Morison knew what our punter needed and delivered the goods, equalising just five minutes after.

Not only did he equalise, he smashed home a 25-yard volley. One of those that leaves both sets of fans – and a punter chasing a huge bet – in awe. Millwall then went ahead at the 50-minute mark, leaving our lad in heaven.

As the 3pm fixtures rolled in, he needed 11 more results to land, including two draws between Southend v Shrewsbury and Walsall v Coventry. Both ended 1-1.

Next time you think you’re having a lucky day, perhaps you just catch the bus after sprinting after it or you get the last sausage at breakfast, you aren’t. Real luck is seeing four teams come from behind to help you win your acca, scoring four goals after the 82-minute mark in four different games!

We like to imagine that when this lad went to sleep – if he went to sleep – on Saturday night, he said a quick prayer to James Hanson. This hero bagged two goals in the 78th and 90th minutes to see Bradford turn a 2-1 loss into a 3-2 victory.

It takes a very shrewd man to correctly select every result in a League, and for that we salute you. Step into to the Punting Hall of Fame.
