UK General Election: How many seats will the Lib Dems win in 2024?

Is a yellow revival on the cards?

After years in the doldrums, the Liberal Democrats could be on the cusp of returning to their previous role as the third-largest party in the House of Commons.

While Labour and Conservatives have traded blows, Lib Dem leader Ed Davey has brought a bit of fun to the campaign thanks to his various whacky stunts including bungee jumping off a crane.

And as they say, what goes down, must come up.

The party crashed to a low of eight MPs at the 2015 General Election after forming a controversial coalition government with the Conservatives, but they look set to return to their glory years under Paddy Ashdown and Charles Kennedy as they should bounce back to being a sizeable force in parliament.

Polling Station

After a bruising 2019 General Election in which former leader Jo Swinson lost her seat, the Lib Dems have taken a laser-focused approach to their target seats in a bid to smash the ‘Blue Wall’ in Conservative heartlands.

The big question is will the strategy pay off? A scoot over the UK General Election odds on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app should provide some clues.

Despite the party’s poll numbers barely breaking into the teens, 41 Seats Or More is the odds-on favourite in our Liberal Democrats U/O 40.5 Seats betting market.

But Paddy’s political traders think they will end up with 59 Seats or Less judging by the latest odds in the Liberal Democrats U/O 59.5 Seats betting market.

Becoming the second-largest party in the House of Commons would almost be beyond the Lib Dems’ wildest dreams and they are the second favourites behind the Conservatives in our Most Seats Without Labour betting market.
