The elderly President of the United States of America opted against another bruising contest with Donald Trump and denies voters the choice between two white men over the age of 75 in the upcoming Presidential Election.
The golden rule of Hollywood films is that sequels are rarely better than the originals – so it’s perhaps a good thing that Biden has decided to put his feet up instead. A nice kip might be nice.
Trump is now the old man in the fight with Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, the incumbent Vice President, who earned Biden’s seal of approval via an incredibly-long statement on Twitter, sorry I mean X.

After time on the sidelines, he decided to run for the Republican nomination in 2024 despite being involved in a civil fraud trial in New York in which he was subsequently found guilty. Could that have a bearing on proceedings?
This hasn’t prevented him from sweeping aside fellow potential nominees, with a recent assassination attempt – in which he was hit by a bullet in the ear – not stopping him from attending the Republican Party’s National Convention to be rubber-stamped as their candidate.
He was set to face Joe Biden, but the incumbent President opted to stand down amid concerns about his age and health after a series of high-profile gaffes.
The current Vice President, Kamala Harris, steps up to the plate as the Democrat’s nominee and is bidding to become the first woman to take the hotseat in the Oval Office.
While the election is still more than three months away, our traders think it is almost too close to call, although Harris has the edge at the moment.
