Paddy Power have used their General Election betting data to reveal that Aberdeen is the Conservative capital of the UK – with 100% of bets placed in the city for a Boris Johnson victory.
But a Labour majority (25/1) accounts for more than half (54%) of the bets placed on the bookie’s overall majority market.
Cardiff and Bournemouth are most likely to vote red, according to the betting, with every single bet placed on the outcome of the election in those cities going the way of Jeremy Corbyn.
Latest Next PM odds: Johnson 1/6 | Corbyn 7/2 | Swinson 50/1Labour also dominates betting in Sheffield (90%), Manchester (88%), Liverpool (78%), Leeds (75%), and Newcastle (66%).
The stats also suggest that women are more likely to back Jeremy Corbyn (64%) to be named next Prime Minister, with nine times as many bets on him than on Boris Johnson (7%) – the current PM also lags behind Jo Swinson (14%) and Nigel Farage (8%) for female bettors.
Boris is three times more popular with male punters (21%), but is still behind Corbyn (47%).
In terms of age, Boris is most popular with Under 25s (32%) and over 65s (24%), with Corbyn most popular with bettors aged 25-40 (59%).
Nigel Farage over-indexes for punters aged 40-64 (7%).
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “They say men are from Mars and women are from Venus, and this holds true with our data – which shows the fairer sex are far more likely to back Corbyn than Johnson for next Prime Minister.
“Little did we know the Leader of the Opposition was politics’ answer to David Beckham.
“Meanwhile, the data also revealed that Aberdeen is a Tory heartland amongst bettors, while Labour dominates betting in the North of England.”
