Boris Johnson launched his campaign to become next Prime Minister on Wednesday, and our oddmakers reckon he is the major frontrunner to win the contest.
Johnson’s latest odds of becoming next Tory leader are 1/2, in from 6/4 when Theresa May announced her resignation.
He has been our favourite for months with Jeremy Hunt far behind him at 6/1.
Also in the running are Andrea Leadsom (11/1), Michael Gove (14/1), Rory Stewart (20/1), Sajid Javid (22/1), Dominic Raab (33/1), Matthew Hancock (100/1), Esther McVey (100/1) and Mark Harper (150/1).
And, as one candidate in the Tory leadership race will see their campaign reach its end tomorrow, it’s Mark Harper who is tipped to receive the least votes at 5/4.
Meanwhile, Boris Johnson is tipped to receive over 100 votes at 11/8, or it’s rated 9/4 for between 90-99.
Asked about the race spokesman Paddy Power said: “Boris Johnson has kicked off his leadership campaign with a rallying cry to deliver Brexit today, and judging off the betting this race may as well already be over.
“He’s been our favourite for months – long before May announced her resignation – and the odds of him leading the Conservatives are shortening all the time.”
