UK political betting: General Election cut to 5/4 as Brexit gets ready to blow

Just over a week to go to the rescheduled vote as Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay guarantees it will happen on Tuesday, Jan 15 ...

British MPs returned to work today after the Christmas recess with Brexit still dominating the political landscape.

The moment of truth for British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement is fast approaching and Tuesday week – January 15th – looks to be the day when the House of Commons will get to vote on the proposal.

May will use this week to try and persuade the EU to offer concessions on the controversial Irish backstop to try and satisfy Tory Brexiteers and the Democratic Unionist Party.

But what happens then is anybody’s guess.

Paddy Power have priced up another EU referendum in 2019 at 5/4 with the UK revoking Article 50 priced at 9/2.

The deadline of March 29th for a deal to be ratified is on the horizon and we make it 4/9 that a ‘No’ deal will be ratified by this time.

May is walking a political tightrope and having already declared that she won’t lead the Tories into the next general election, Paddy Power make Boris Johnson the narrow 4/1 favourite over Dominic Raab at 9/2 to be the next leader of the Conservative party, with a British General Election priced at 5/4 to happen this year.
