Odds shorten on trump to win 2020 election following midterm results

Last night’s midterm election results have seen a shift in Donald Trump’s odds in the next US presidential election coming up in 2020…

Following the fallout from the midterm elections, we’re reporting that Donald Trump’s likelihood of winning the 2020 presidential election has increased.

We make it 6/4 that Trump wins the next election, and it’s now odds-on 1/4 that he completes his first term of office – which represents around an 80% chance.

On the contrary, with the Democrats controlling the House of Representatives for the first time in eight years, Trump’s odds of being impeached have fallen from 7/4 to evens.

One of the main stories of the election was how close Beto O’Rourke pushed Ted Cruz in Texas – narrowly missing out on the win. As a result, his odds of being the Democrat nominee for 2020 have halved, from 10/1 to 5/1.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s odds have also fallen, from 14/1 to 12/1 to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “If last night was billed as a referendum on how Donald Trump has performed as President amongst voters, then you would have to say he has passed. And even if you don’t believe that, he’ll tell you it’s the truth anyway.

“Though the Democrats gaining control of the House is a huge turning point – they may well consider investigations into Trump’s past and presidency, which is reflected in our impeachment odds cut.”
