The battle to host the second Amazon HQ is hotting up, after the tech giants announced their final shortlist for the venue – with Boston shooting up the betting to emerge as favourite (3/1).

Austin and Atlanta (both 7/2) had been the long-time joint favourites, and remain high up the betting – with Montgomery County (8/1) another big mover after the shortlist announcement, having previously been a distant option (250/1).

Toronto (20/1), meanwhile, is the only Canadian city on the shortlist, and would represent a major snub to President Trump.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “We’ve seen a surprising level of interest in the Amazon HQ market, despite our customers being UK and Ireland based. The things people will do for free shipping.

“Our punters seem to think it’ll be in Boston, currently, but the Trump factor could mean it goes in two markedly different directions: Washington area or, erm, Canada.”
