Comments from Woody Johnson, the US ambassador to Britain, this morning have prompted us to make it odds-on that Donald Trump will visit the UK next year.
We are now 4/6 that the US President will make a state visit, in from 5/2 after Johnson’s Radio 4 appearance.
But we also make it 20/1 that the Queen will refuse to host him and, after their recent Twitter spat, 10/1 that Prime Minister Theresa May will withdraw the invite.
We also quote 16/1 that Trump’s visit will attract more protestors than his inauguration did spectators.
Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Donald Trump has been insistent that this visit will happen, so will see it as a victory if it does.
“Then again, he’s been pretty insistent about the Mexican border wall going up, and we’ve seen little progress there.”
