Frances Fitzgerald is now odds-on to NOT be a minister by New Year’s Day, as the pressure mounts on her following recent revelations about the O’Higgins commission.
We’re offering odds of 8/11 that Tánaiste Fitzgerald will no longer in her position come January 1st.
With Taoiseach Leo Varadkar being dragged into the row, and scrutiny ramping up on Fitzgerald, the bookies moved to shorten those odds overnight – after Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe disputed an account of his treatment at the inquiry.
Which has prompted suggestions that Sinn Féin will table a motion of no confidence in Fitzgerald today.
Asked about the controversy spokesman Paddy Power said: “Fitz surely the end of Tánaiste Fitzgerald’s ministerial role.
“I’m no political expert, but I do know that when the whistle blows, the game’s usually up.”
