Hillary Clinton’s odds cut following FBI announcement

The democrat’s chances of taking the Oval Office are looking better and better

Paddy Power have once again cut the odds of Hillary Clinton being elected US President after the Democratic candidate was cleared of any wrongdoing by the FBI.

Clinton, who was 1/4 (80% chance) before last yesterday’s announcement by the FBI, is now 1/5 (83.3% chance) to succeed President Obama.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s odds drifted from 10/3 (23.1% chance) to 4/1 (20% chance) over the same time period.

We’ve already paid out over $1m to our customers who backed Hillary Clinton and we can also report a switch in customer behaviour, with the majority of cash in the past 48 hours being for the former Secretary of State.

Speaking on the latest shift in the market Féilim Mac An Iomaire, a spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: “We’re in the home stretch and there’s no denying that the momentum is firmly with the Clinton camp with recent polls and the FBI investigation all going in her favour.

“Last week we couldn’t stop taking money on Trump, but customer sentiment has changed over the weekend with far more of their hard earned money being staked on Clinton to make her way to the Oval Office.”

Elsewhere, we’re also taking bets on FBI Director Paul Comey’s future. It’s 10/1 for him still to be in the same position on July 1st 2017.
