We’re running another FREE fantasy US horse racing contest this Thursday, May 14th. Once again, the action starts with the first race at Gulfstream Park at 6pm, so be sure to get your entries in before then!
It’s another mixed card with 10 races on the turf and dirt at the Florida venue where the glorious weather of last week has disappeared, and there is now a 70% chance of rain over in the Sunshine State.
There are likely to be plenty of non-runners, so don’t forget to keep tabs on your stable. If you do have a late non-runner, you can always replace your selection with another. Just click on the “Quick player replace” tab to make a change. This can be done at any time before the race in question starts.
Here’s a quick reminder of the rules before we try and find some value selections.
Put simply, horses finishing in the top four places in each race are awarded points as follows:
W (Win)- 5 pts
P (Place- 2nd place)- 3 pts
S (Show- 3rd place)- 2 pts
F (Fourth)- 0.75 pts
The aim of the game is to collect the most points across the card. Do that and you net your share of £/€1,000!
You get an overall budget of €21 to use over all 10 races at Gulfstream Park. The horse salaries range from €3 (big fancies) to €1 (outsiders) and you pick one horse each race. No betting, no forecasts and no placepots. Just a simple “pick a horse” style.
So, now we’ve set the scene, let’s have a look at some value bets on the card…
The €3 Bankers
Race 2 – Dayoutoftheoffice: Beautifully bred newcomer who has reportedly been working well for his racecourse debut
Race 3 – Bahamian Prince: Versatile and consistent, has the class to overcome a wide draw here.
Race 9 – Violent Times: In great form and has the speed to lead from start to finish.
The €2 Value Runners
Race 1 – Josefa: Always runs a decent race and has the in-from Miguel Vasquez on board.
Race 4 – Girolamo’s Attack: Well drawn debutant from a stable that can produce first-time winners.
Race 5 – Dizzy Gillespie: Has been in great form lately and has the speed to burn off most of these rivals.
Race 7 – Money Ride: Will be fitter for his recent run and this is his best trip.
Race 8 – Midnight Gem: Track conditions should suit hold up horses and Midnight Gem can use her finishing kick to get amongst the points.
The €1 Bargain Basement
Race 10 – New York Commander: Has shown promise in her first two races and can take advantage of a plum draw here.
Race 6 – Longpants Required: The blinkers are added and has the stamina to stay on late for a place.
Good luck with your selections, and don’t forget all the races are shown live on Sky Sports Racing.
