Rams and Bucs shootout seals million win in Week 4’s NFL fantasy contest

The scoreboard was working overtime at the LA Coliseum on Sunday, and all those points meant a million quid for one lucky fantasy owner

QB – Jared Goff, LAR: 23.68pts

The Rams signal-caller has been having some questions asked of him recently, but answered them (for fantasy owners anyway) with a staggering 45 completions on 63 attempts in the 13th highest scoring regular-season game in NFL league history. His 517-yard performance represents a career-high yardage total, but it only accounted for two touchdowns in the Rams; 40 points as the Bucs beat the defending NFC champions 55-40.

RB – Nick Chubb, CLE: 37.8pts

Cleveland’s meeting with Baltimore had the look of a do-or-die contest for the Browns, and running-back Nick Chubb ensured they did rather than died on Sunday. He rushed 20 times for a mammoth 165 yards and three scores to lead the Ohioans to a 40-25 victory over the Ravens and lift them to 2-2 in the AFC North.

RB – David Johnson, ARI: 17.9pts

The Arizona running back is becoming a rabbit’s foot in the £3million prize contest as he cropped up on last week’s winning team too. He only ran for 40 yards but made eight valuable receptions for 99 yards as the Cardinals dropped to 0-3 against the Panthers,

WR – Chris Godwin, TBB: 35.2pts

Chris Godwin was actually on a winning team this week! Hurray! Last week, Mike Evans tore it up against the Giants for Tampa, but it was his teammate’s turn this week as Godwin collected 172 yards and two touchdowns in a breakout game for the third-year wideout.

WR – Robert Woods, LAR: 22.9pts

One of the most quietly consistent performers in fantasy also got in on the act at the LA Coliseum as the scoring ratcheted up. Woods notched 164 yards on 15 receptions, showing you don’t need TDs to make a big impact in fantasy as a receiver, just volume.

WR – Cooper Kupp, LAR: 22.4pts

And another Ram was just behind him in fantasy scoring. There’s not so much as a hint of last season’s horrible injury in Kupp’s play this season, and he had another strong performance as Jared Goff’s safety blanket with nine receptions, a TD and 121 yards as the scoreboard melted down the southern California afternoon.

TE – Evan Engram, NYG: 7.4pts

The scoring in the Rams game meant this winning line-up could carry an underwhelming display from the usually beastly Evan Engram, who had just four receptions for 54 yards in the Giants’ trouncing of a pitiful Redskins team.

FLEX – Leonard Fournette, JAX: 25.5pts

The Jaguars running-back showed why Jacksonville took him fourth overall in the draft in 2017 with a fearsome display in the second half against Denver that included a huge 88-yard run from close to his own goal-line. That brought his total on the ground to 225 yards for the day as Jacksonville squeaked out of Mile-High Stadium with a win.

D/ST – New York Giants: 24pts

I mentioned a pitiful Redskins team, didn’t I? Case Keenum was benched in their 24-3 loss to their hated rivals in favour of rookie Dwayne Haskins, who promptly threw three interceptions to a Giants defence that was ripped asunder by Mike Evans last week.

They turned one of those turnovers into a touchdown that ultimately proved crucial in the big prize contest, with just over 4 points separating the £1million winning line-up from second-place’s £150,000 team.
