When is the Paris Olympics opening ceremony? Date and start time for 2024

Paris takes centre stage...

The world’s biggest sporting event is back as the best athletes from across the globe descend on Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games.

The French capital becomes just the second city – after London – to host the Summer Games on three occasions having previously staged the event in 1900 and 1924.

As is tradition, the Olympics begins with an opening ceremony paying tribute to French and Parisian culture, while featuring all of the athletes competing.

For the first time, the opening ceremony will take place outside of the main stadium, with the event happening along the Seine.

This year marks the 33rd Olympiad, with 206 countries competing across the 32 sports that make up the programme.
