Odds on Chris Froome retiring cut after drug controversy

Will he vrooming off into the sunset?

The building controversy around Chris Froome’s ‘adverse’ drugs test earlier this year has raised question marks about his future at both Team Sky and in cycling generally.

So much so, we’ve had to cut the odds of him leaving the British team to 2/1, and quote just 3/1 that Froome will retire from cycling altogether in 2018.

He has also drifted massively in the Sports Personality betting, out to 50/1 after this morning’s revelation.

Asked about the Froome incident spokesman Paddy Power said: “This news is the latest tour de farce for cycling, as the sport’s whiter than white good guy has been questioned.

“Froome’s defence revolves around his asthma – and I’m sure there were plenty of deep breaths at Team Sky when the news broke.”
