London streets favourite to succeed Silverstone for 2020 British F1 race

But we’re still backing the classic Grand Prix to take place at its traditional home, despite Formula One fall-out…

The future of the 2020 British Grand Prix could be a race around the streets of London, after Silverstone chiefs activated a break clause in their agreement with Formula One today.

It means that, after the 2019 race, Silverstone will no longer host a Grand Prix – with Paddy Power making a London street race the 8/1 favourite alternative, ahead of Brands Hatch (9/1) and the Aintree Motor Racing Circuit at 16/1.

There’s been strong hints that the capital could host a Monaco-like affair ever since motor racing was legalised on closed public roads in Britain back in April.

However, we expect the race to continue at the iconic track, with odds of 1/7 that the 2020 GP will be hosted at Silverstone.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Strap yourselves in, folks – this one could go on and on. A bit like the race itself.

“Many in F1 expect Silverstone to return to the negotiating table, but a London street race will be in pole position otherwise.”

Where will the 2020 British Grand Prix be held?

1/7       Silverstone
8/1       London street race
9/1       Brands Hatch
16/1     Aintree Motor Racing Circuit
