Celebrate the return of the NBA (and Paddy Power’s latest basketball offer) with some ridiculous slam dunks

The NBA is back tonight - and that means three things: A great punting opportunity, some stunning slam dunks, and a reason to talk about Space Jam

The NBA is back – and for die-hard fans in the UK and Ireland it’s a mouth-watering prospect.

However, it’s also brilliant news for casual sports lovers like ourselves, as it provides some perfect punting opportunities, a chance to watch some extreme slam dunks, and the ideal excuse to talk about the film Space Jam – and in particular the belting soundtrack that accompanies it.

Firstly however we need to keep the men in clean suits happy by telling you that Paddy’s Acca Insurance covers the NBA. That means if one leg of your five-fold or bigger accumulator lets you down, you get our stake back as a free bet (up to £/€25). Can I get a whoop whoop? Thank you.

As for the outright market the Golden State Warriors are the 4/5 favourites, and that’s no surprise because the really brief amount of research we did on the interweb suggests that they not only have the best team, but they’ve now signed another one of the best players in Kevin Durant. A joker from Paddy Power’s Marketing Department who has been to Ameria at least twice and likes to think ‘he’s down with kids’ says, ‘They’re the first team in NBA history to have four NBA All-Stars from the previous season in their starting roster.’

So that sounds good.

Elsewhere last year’s champs the Cleveland Cavaliers are 7/2, and San Antonio Spurs are 15/2 if any Tottenham fans need another team to cheer on. Unfortunately there’s no sign of  the Looney Tunes or Monstars near the top of the market.

However that being said you’re probably here to see some pretty nifty slam dunks, and to be brutally honest we’ve exhausted pretty much all of our basketball knowledge. So with that in mind, here are the top 10 dunks from the regular seaosn last year courtesy of the good folk at the NBA. Enjoy it guys and – just in case some of the big PP chiefs happen to land on this piece – don’t forget to avail of Paddy Power’s lovely acca insurance offer.

Now, who owns a video cassette player these days? I’ve got a hankering to re-watch Micheal Jordan teaming with Bugs.

What do you think?
