Breaking: George Mills quits 5000m to take up Olympic Taekwondo

Following a spicy confrontation with France's Hugo Hay in the 5000m, Team GB's George Mills is set to compete for gold in Taekwondo

Team GB 5000m athlete George Mills is understood to have taken a hiatus from running in a bid to enter himself and fellow runner Hugo Hay into Olympic Taekwondo.

Following a controversial race on Wednesday which ended in Mills confronting Frenchman Hay having been knocked to the floor by his rival, news coming from within the Olympic Village is that Mills is “keen to settle the score” and wants to deliver an ass-kicking.

“George was straight on the phone to his dad Danny who we all know is famous for a ruck. Apparently, Danny told George to take it to the streets and go straight for the knees just like he used to do to Premier League wingers, but George has since decided he wants to batter the French distance runner and win a gold medal at the same time,” said an anonymous athlete in the village.

“It’s all become a little bit dramatic to be honest, with George Karate chopping dozens of baguettes in half whilst shouting “I’m coming for you Hay” for hours on end.”

“Poor Hugo has tried to apologise, but Noah Lyles keeps teasing him, saying he’s going to get beaten up by George and to watch his back,” continued the athlete.

While Mills was initially so furious that he took to Twitter and threatened to never eat in a Côte Brasserie again, he later went on record to officially retract that statement and delete the Tweet, suggesting no amount of disdain for France will stop him enjoying delicious garlic prawns served up in his favourite chain restaurant.

“Mills has been on YouTube trying to learn as much about Taekwondo as possible. He’s been copying lots of Chuck Norris footage and watched Wesley Snipes in Blade four times in a row, I just hope he ignores the vampire element of that movie as there’s no biting allowed at the Olympics,” said a physio from Team GB.

With Mills keen to get his Taekwondo career off to a medal-winning start, Paddy Power News has been told that he is also expected to update Hugo Hay on his views of France too, which include that he isn’t impressed with the structural integrity of the Eiffel Tower, Mbappe didn’t do himself justice at the Euros, and that he felt he wasted 90 minutes of his life watching Under Paris, describing it as “the worst shark movie ever made”.
