Commanders +6.5

The Conference Championship is upon us and we’re starting with the NFC with two divisional rivals meetings as the Eagles host the Commanders. The Commanders have really impressed as the season has progressed.

They’ve won seven straight games, including two playoff ties and the win over the Lions last weekend that sent shockwaves around the NFL. The Eagles have been the better team across the whole season but right now it’s very, very close.

To stay on the safe side we’re being more conservative and taking the Commanders +6.5 rather than the win. The Commanders lost by eight in Week 11 to this team but have shown improvement since and Jayden Daniels was still banged up then.

Then in Week 16 the Commanders beat the Eagles by three but Jalen Hurts was withdrawn from that game with injury. However, with Hurts suffering through injury again, we’re not getting the full-Hurts and I’d take the Commanders to cover, especially given their recent performances.

Over 47.5 Total Points

The Week 16 meeting between these teams saw 69 points and it wouldn’t be a shock if we saw a similar number this Sunday. This Commanders offense have been putting up big numbers for weeks now, with 68 through playoff games and 36, 30 and 23 in the weeks before that.

Even if the Eagles don’t have a 100% Hurts, they still have an incredible running game and a running back who is playing at an insanely high level right now. This is playoff football and we’re going to see both teams put everything on the line here. With a cast of great offensive players we could see a shootout.

Jalen Hurts Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts Under 186.5 Passing Yards

Hurts’ line of 186.5 passing yards feels far too large for this game. Yes, he did throw for 221 yards against the Commanders in Week 11 but their defense has improved since then, while Hurts is not anywhere near the same level of health.

Hurts returned to the Eagles team for the start of the playoffs and has put up 131 and 128 yards in the two playoff games. It feels unlikely that Hurts would have returned so soon had it not been the playoffs and physically he looks a shadow of his best.

Hurts has only beaten this mark once in his past seven games, although one of those he did leave early injured. This team is geared up for Saquon Barkley and will continue to rely on the ground game with Hurts struggling.

Saquon Barkley Anytime Touchdown

Speaking of Barkley, we’re taking the 27-year-old to find the endzone. He’s the shortest price of anyone on the field to score but with good reason. He’s racked up 17 touchdowns this season but has time and again put the team on his back and scored important touchdowns.

Last week he scored twice against the Rams, including the decisive touchdown that effectively won the game for the Eagles. He found a small gap in their defense and took it to the house.

He’s got game-breaking ability and will continue to be lent on heavily by the Eagles, especially with Hurts injured and less likely to carry the ball himself in red zone.

Terry McLaurin Anytime Touchdown

The Commanders’ star wideout Terry McLaurin has only two fewer touchdowns than Barkley this season, with 15. It’s been a real breakout season for the former Ohio State man and he’s on an incredible run of form.

He’s scored in seven of his past eight games, including both playoff games, as well as the last meeting between these teams in Week 16. Bar tightend Zach Ertz, he has far more red zone targets than anybody else on the offense and with the chemistry growing between him and Daniels, we’re likely to see him integral again on Sunday.
