Denver to Win

At the start of every year, I always look for Denver when predicting the over/under on the win totals. The reason for this is because everyone understates their quality on home soil.

It’s called Mile High for a reason. Teams struggle with it. And when you combine that with an elite Denver defensive showing so far, the Broncos should be favoured against pretty much anyone bar the elite teams in the league.

Cleveland, while somewhat resurgent, are not that – but being carried by the wave of mania coming from the post-match interviews given by Jameis Winston. More power to him, but he won’t be smiling after this one.

Jameis Winston Under 230.5 passing yards

Jameis Winston requires some element of busted coverage on the back-end to take shots. That’s always been his way to stack. But the way this team is built is far more reliant on quick game and getting the ball in the hands of nimble pass-catchers.

And while this indeed a revenge game for Jerry Jeudy, I can hardly stop and suggest he’ll be likely to escape press coverage against this defensive back room.

There might be an odd occasion where Denver need to blitz and are short-staffed in the deep area of the field, but by and large, this team gets up close to you on the line of scrimmage and don’t give up many free receptions. He’s overmatched.

Bo Nix over 18.5 rushing yards

Against elite pass rushes, they’re going to need to do this. It ensures you keep the best defensive player in the sport on his toes.

Myles Garrett is going to win on the edge, but if you make him think the QB is going to slip out the side door, he may need to play contain and opt to not go full-pelt. That’s an immediate win for the Broncos if they can manage it.

And there’s no way they’re not factoring it into a gameplan. Nix has been the Offensive Rookie of the Week three weeks in a row – first time it’s been done in forever, and his wheels are a huge part of the reason why.

Sean Payton is too good a head coach to have him drop back time and time again when facing this group of pass rushers. And without a running game to speak of, this is the best counter-punch.

Bo Nix anytime touchdown

And with great legs comes great goal line responsibility. Bo Nix has had 64 carries in the league this year and converted that into 300 rushing yards, and four TDs.

Despite Javonte Williams having twice as many efforts, his efficiency is terrible and he’s only managed three scores.

The easiest path to powering one in inside the ten is go with the legs of the quarterback rather than a running back room which resembles the Three Amigos.
