Derrick Henry anytime touchdown
When teams sign a new player in free agency, they often expect a few teething problems as players get used to new teammates and a new playbook. Occasionally, this doesn’t happen, and the new signing is able to hit the ground running. To say Derrick Henry has got off to a fast start in Baltimore would be an understatement.
The nine-year veteran, who played his entire career in Tennessee until this season, has been a revelation in a Ravens shirt. He has scored a touchdown in every single game this season. Last week was a relatively quiet outing by Henry’s lofty standards, and he’ll be looking to bounce back.
The Steelers’ defence has caused problems for Lamar Jackson in the past, so I’d expect Baltimore to open up with a heavy dose of Henry in the run game. I’m backing the former Titan to score anytime but he might also be worth a look as first touchdown scorer too at 4/1.
Over 48.5 Points
The story of Baltimore’s season has been high-scoring games. The combination of Henry and Lamar Jackson both having MVP-level seasons, while Zay Flowers has the Raven’s offence firing on all cylinders. The defence is not. Baltimore games have seen an average of 57 points so far this season, and only two games have been under Sunday’s 48.5 Points mark (a 27-20 loss to Kansas City and a 35-10 win over Buffalo).
In contrast the hosts have turned a corner recently, since the introduction of Russell Wilson as starting quarterback three weeks ago Pittsburgh have averaged 30 points a game and we could be in for a shootout between two teams fighting for supremacy in the AFC North.
Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans
NFL game at Nissan Stadium, Nashville
TV: NFL GamePass, 6pm
Minnesota Vikings -5.5 points
The Minnesota Vikings struggled their way to a 12-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday but get the opportunity to put things right this week against another lowly AFC South opponent. The Tennessee Titans are 2-7 and, after recently trading away DeAndre Hopkins, have already thrown in the towel for the season and planning their rebuild. Minnesota on the other hand, have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL.
The Vikings defence is imperious against the run (best in the league on yards allowed and 2nd on touchdowns) and while they have had some difficulty stopping opposing quarterbacks nobody on the Titans roster should offer too much of a threat. I wouldn’t be amazed if Minnesota won by two or more touchdowns, let alone the 5.5 points they’re being given on the handicap on Sunday.
Las Vegas Raiders @ Miami Dolphins
NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens
TV: NFL GamePass, 6pm
Jaylen Waddle Anytime Touchdown
The Miami Dolphins came into the season with high hopes but an injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa scuppered those chances. The former Alabama QB has returned from injury but his team are now 3-6 and well adrift in the playoff race. Tyreek Hill is the star at wide receiver but he is also battling an injury, so facing a poor Las Vegas Raiders side Tua will likely turn to Jaylen Waddle.
In Week 1, Waddle had five catches for 109 yards but has been relatively quiet since then, until last week, when he hit a season-high for targets (six) and looked a much bigger part of the offence again. I’m backing Waddle to score anytime in what should be a fairly convincing win.
