Dallas Cowboys @ Atlanta Falcons
Bijan Robinson anytime touchdown
The Atlanta Falcons lead the NFC North coming into Week 9 with a 5-3 record and will fancy their chances of beating the Dallas Cowboys for the first time since 2017. A big reason for that confidence is running back Bijan Robinson, whose performances have turned the corner over the last month.
Robinson, who played college football in Texas, has scored five touchdowns this season, but four have come in the last three weeks. He’ll expect to add to that total against a Cowboys defence that has conceded 12 rushing TDs in its seven games.
Kirk Cousins over 250.5 passing yards
Unfortunately for Dallas, despite knowing that Robinson is a threat and they struggle against the running game, they also have to deal with an in-form Kirk Cousins at quarterback. The veteran signal-caller threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s win over Tampa Bay.
Cousins is fifth in the league in total passing yards but will expect to be at least second on that list by the end of the weekend (CJ Stroud and Aaron Rodgers both played on Thursday night while Baker Mayfield is on a bye week) and will fancy his chances in what could be a shootout in Atlanta. I’m expecting Cousins and his opposite number, Dak Prescott, to cover their passing yards line, but Cousins is the safer pick, in my opinion, at 250.5 yards.
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
Over 46.5 points
The Baltimore Ravens have been a bit Jekyll and Hyde in 2024. Lamar Jackson is making an early season claim for consecutive MVP awards, while Derrick Henry is bulldozing through tacklers with frightening consistency. This week, they added former Pittsburgh Steeler Diontae Johnson to their wide receiving ranks as they look to challenge for the playoffs.
However, their defence is ravaged by injuries, and they seemingly struggle to make stops in crucial game moments. Last week, they were torched by Jameis Winston as the Cleveland Browns ran out 29-24 winners. The Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix will take heart from that and fancy his chances of success against the worst passing defence in the league. Baltimore’s lowest-scoring game this season saw 45 points scored, and I would expect the 46.5-point line to be covered comfortably on Sunday.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Cleveland Browns
Ladd McConkey anytime touchdown
The Los Angeles Chargers make a cross-country trip to face the Cleveland Browns off the back of a comprehensive victory over the New Orleans Saints powered by a breakout performance from rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
The 2024 second-round pick set new career highs for catches (6), yards (111) and touchdowns (2) in the game and is looking like he is Justin Herbert’s favourite target at the moment, leading the team in receptions and yardage. Look for Ladd to find the endzone again.
