Kansas City -5.5

Kansas City at home against Derek Carr, with a hot crowd after going 4-0 to start the season? Yes, please.

Kansas City don’t have a particular style anymore. If anything they’re a short-passing offense who bore people to tears, with Patrick Mahomes taking the lid off the place once a game and then winning.

Their entire identity now is to let their defense win the game for them, which is a far cry from what we were used back in the days of Tyreek Hill.

But grinding a team down like that is back-breaking.

The Saints’ defense isn’t the unit so many feared in recent years. That was best exemplified last week when they just need to stop Atlanta from getting within Younghoe Koo’s range, and they blew it in seconds.

Psychologically, these two teams are on a different planet, and with Derek Carr coming back to face an old foe in Mahomes. Still, without the elevated edge of it being a divisional game, this feels like a routine victory we gloss over in ten years time when we’re looking back.

Kansas City Chiefs Handicap

Under 42.5 points

Steve Spagnuolo does two things well: limiting explosive plays and putting pressure up the middle.

Derek Carr is still in the top half of the league regarding arm talent and processing the field, but he’s in his rung entirely when discussing cowardice.

I don’t know whether the Nevada niceties made him unprepared for grown men trying to hurt him, but he always looks like he feels the game is slightly too physical for him, always cowering under pressure in the pocket.

Chris Jones will destroy this game very quickly, and I’m not sure points will be flying around. I mean, who would even score them for Kansas City these days?

Noah Gray to Score Anytime

Well, Noah Gray, of course. This is the Englishman tax but in the NFL, for those of you unfamiliar.

Noah Gray was the fifth-choice pass catcher coming into the season, and now he’s probably number one.

Travis Kelce is slow; Rashee Rice is out for the year; Hollywood Brown is out for the year; Isiah Pacheco is hurt. And while Xavier Worthy is definitely a problem, he can’t run enough routes to be truly impactful across an entire game, so it boils down to Mahomes making a superstar out of a player who probably wouldn’t last too long on the practice squads of other teams.

Noah Gray Any Time Touchdown Scorer

Alvin Kamara – Over 4.5 receptions

The hot route. The safety blanket. The easy answer.

Alvin Kamara has silenced almost everyone in the NFL this season by looking sensational in his cuts. Not only is he running well, but his receiving ability hasn’t dropped off either.

Carr will be under constant duress during this game, and typically when that happens, he dunks off to the nearest eligible body.

Drue Tranquill may tackle him almost immediately, but oh man, will he ever stack up those catches.
