The NFL season often feels like it goes by too quickly.

By the time you’ve really gotten into your stride, we’re at the Super Bowl and then you’re relegated to watching the Draft and trade rumours fly for the next four months.

But this year hasn’t been like that. And you know who I blame for that? Television.

The Thursday Night Football games are meant to be nationally-televised to advertise just how entertaining the sport can be. And over the last month or so, we’ve been subject to far too many rubbish teams.

Well folks, we’ve now arrived in the promised land because we could well be watching a dress rehearsal of a playoff showdown.

Joseph Lee Burrow and his Bengals are rolling into Baltimore, looking to solidify the narrative that they’re coming for the Ravens atop the division, and that their early-season record was solely down to the fact that Burrow could barely walk, let alone escape the pocket.

This feels like the game we’ve all been waiting for.

Baltimore to Win

The Ravens have developed this weird kink where they’re now throwing games away in the fourth quarter and not closing them out.

That was not an issue under Greg Roman because they just ran up the gut and killed the clock. This new offense is more receiver-focused and while they do indeed run the ball at a high rate, their identity isn’t ‘smashmouth’ anymore.

Getting the ball in the hands of quicker players like Zay Flowers seems to be their approach, to mixed results.

But I always come back to this point: they’re throwing games away in the fourth quarter and they’re still 7-3.They’re the winners here.

Over 46 Points

The Ravens have scored 31 or more points in each of their last four games.

They’re doing so through a variety of ways, so no one player is depended upon excessively. That spells success.

What the concern is moreso, is the fact their much-heralded defense has now coughed up sixteen or more fourth quarter points in two of their last three games. This one’s going over.

Keaton Mitchell to Score A Touchdown

He’s the change of pace back and while everyone expected his coming out party to be last week, it feels like his four touches producing what they did against the best defense in the NFL should warrant enough high leverage opportunities in this one.

Particularly as Trey Hendrickson, who’s one of the best defensive ends in the league at setting the boundary, looks like he’s out.

Joe Burrow – Over 252.5 Passing Yards

I assure you, the Ravens are going to try and make Burrow move. The best way to do this is by applying interior pressure so he has to move left and right. These end up in broken plays which are usually high-yardage completions, too.

They think they’re attacking Burrow’s physical limitations after his injury, but actually his off-the-cuff nature is what made him the number one overall pick in 2020.

Trenton Irwin – Over 32.5 Receiving Yards

It’s far from a sexy pick here, but Irwin takes the reps that Tee Higgins gets and while he’s not as good a player, so often the Bengals craft plays to get Higgins wide open just due to the allure of Ja’Marr Chase from defensive backs.

This is my favourite line of the game.
