Every year, it’s the same. The entire league does two things – it tries to find a way to write-off Kansas City as a Super Bowl contender because they’re lacking in one key area, and they also try to find an excuse for the Bills to actually win a Vince Lombardi.
Over the last three weeks, Buffalo put up just fourteen points against the Giants and lost to both the Patriots and Jaguars. There comes a point where you need to demote them to the echelon of teams that are in real danger of dropping out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round.
Now, playing the Bucs this week is at least, in my mind, their clear path to a get-right game. A loss to a Bijan-less Falcons team should be all the assessment material you need for understanding what’s going on here. So, the Bills and the Bucs: are we going to make more money than Justin Jefferson’s agent? Likely not, but I do fancy a winner nonetheless.
Tampa Bay (+8.5)
The Bills cannot seem to put up points, and while the Bucs clearly lack on offense, the only team to put up more than twenty points against them this season are the Philadelphia Eagles – a team among the favourites to win the lot.
Beginning with controlling the time of the clock, no opposing running backs have dominated on a per-touch basis against this front, and while accepting Baker’s limitations, I can also suggest that having Mike Evans at least gives him his favourite out ball – one he only got back last week. They’ll have enough to keep it close so it’s Tampa Bay (+8.5).
Under 42.5 points
Five of the Bucs’ games this season have hit the under, and even though we’re seeing the price drift slowly to reflect this very thing, I have a feeling that Buffalo are set up perfectly to combat this limited offense themselves.
This one could have ten or fewer points at the half due to each team’s set pieces on their opening drives likely to prove ineffective against these particular schemes. I like Under 42.5 Points.
One of the most inefficient running backs in football, not only do I think White has no business running between the tackles in this game, I also feel the fact he’s going to fail in pass protection here should see him finally benched.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn is hardly the long-term answer, but this could be the game where they finally roll out promising youngster Sean Tucker. Take Rachaad White Under 47.5 Rushing Yards.
Dalton Kincaid to Score a Touchdown
What the Bucs have is fantastic bracket ability to take away boundary receivers. This is a very similar situation to last week’s game against New England, so that blueprint exists.
Dalton Kincaid was drafted out of Utah to be the next star at the position, and he does look to be a very functional pass-catcher. In this instance, his size should give him a one-up over Antoine Winfield in coverage. I fancy Kincaid to Score a Touchdown.
