The Chargers, eh. For years upon years, we hear an excuse. It took us fifteen years to understand that it wasn’t Philip Rivers’ fault.

They get an unusual amount of injuries and the one time a medical mishap has aided them resulted in their would-be starter puncturing his lung so Justin Herbert could launch his career.

The strangest franchise on planet earth. But with Derwin James coming back now and their defense finally resembling a Brandon Staley unit, they’re about to begin their run-in to the playoffs.

Should New England and Las Vegas lose their games beforehand, this becomes a win-and-in situation. But regardless, the most talented Chargers unit is facing a very blatant chance to achieve something. And you’ll all remember how this typically goes won’t you?

The Colts have been the league’s biggest disappointment alongside Denver. Consider that Matt Ryan was deemed the missing piece to their roster and he’s been a key reason why they’ve failed, 2022 won’t be memorable in Indiana.

Now they’ve moved on to Nick Foles, does it provide more stability or does it limit them further? With no Jonathan Taylor, they don’t really have an offensive outlet either. Could this be a long night?

Indianapolis Colts +4

The Chargers do not win games by wide margins, but they do win them – so this is the obvious place to land.

And for all that they look back to themselves while rushing the passer, their run defense is being held together by a guy they cut not so long ago in Breiden Fehoko.

It’s not a long-term success, I’ll be honest. So with Zack Moss now appearing a shrewder pickup than their half-a-billion-dollar quarterback, they’ll at least possess the ball long enough to ensure the score doesn’t get out of hands.

Parris Campbell – Over 33.5 Receiving Yards

Campbell is fun but given Ryan was essentially operating an offense where he prioritised completions over yardage and first downs, I was never a real believer in Campbell having freebies due to arm strength.

Foles is walking into a situation where he believes he has no pressure on him, and his deep ball has long been much prettier than Ryan’s to begin with.

When you factor in the Chargers’ missed tackle rate, especially against receivers in the open field, this is a must-include leg in your Bet Builder.

Keenan Allen – Over 60.5 Receiving Yards

My god, it’s good to see him back in full flight. The Chargers have the big body receiver in Williams when they need chunk plays but he’s not twitchy enough to be a consistent operator unless their offensive coordinator isolates him on the formation.

They’re not doing that anymore, meaning that Allen, Ekeler or Everett are there to move the chains. Allen’s target share is alarmingly big post-hamstring injury, so they’ll have no reason to begin more hesitant as it heals.

Joshua Kelley To Score Anytime

Austin Ekeler is an amazing utility to have on a team but given he’s had some fumble issues recently and the red zone carries are doing some damage to his body, Kelley has taken some goal line carries lately and they’re seeing improved conversion rates. You get him at a sneakily good price, too.
