New England Patriots @ Las Vegas Raiders – Handicap: Raiders -1.5

The Raiders’ rollercoaster season took another dip in Week 14 as they contrived to throw away a 16-3 fourth quarter lead over the wretched Rams on Thursday night,.

It brought to an end their three-game winning streak that showed they were better than their early season record suggested. It also brought the number of one-possession games they’ve lost this season to seven.

If they get a few breaks in some of those games they are in the middle of the AFC playoff hunt.

The Patriots benefitted from the unfortunate injury to Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray on Monday night, as he left their game after just three plays due to a knee injury that subsequently ended his season.

New England still found themselves trailing at half-time with Colt McCoy filling in, in part due to their own injury issues, chief among them Rhamondre Stevenson’s ankle complaint that may limit or even rule him out for this clash too.

They did eventually pull away from the Cardinals to win, move to 7-6 and remain in the AFC playoff frame, but the Raiders are a more competitive team than Arizona, have shown they’ll play games close and I’d give them the edge in this on the handicap.

Davante Adams: Over 80.5 Receiving Yards

It’s fair to say that Davante Adams’ first season in Vegas hasn’t gone as it would’ve been hoped when the Raiders traded for the former Packer back in the offseason, but that’s not on Adams who is still weakly pulling off the kinds of eye-popping catches that helped Aaron Rodgers earn back-to-back MVP awards.

He’s on course to finish the season averaging just under 100 yards per game, and that’ll be a fourth-consecutive campaign where he’ll have hit a mark close to three-figures.

On Sunday, we could also see Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow return to the starting line-up, two more distractions for an already-depleted Patriots secondary. Adams is worth backing to go over here.

Anytime Touchdown: Josh Jacobs

The only doubt around Josh jacobs is his health as he picked up a hand injury last week while dealing with a quad complaint so he may be limited here but his numbers this season speak for themselves.

He has 1,402 rushing yards, scored 11 touchdowns and has caught 44 of 52 targets for 346 yards receiving. He’s the best bet for a Raiders scorer every week and looks set to handle a full workload or close to it despite his ailments.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Handicap: Bengals -3.5

Tom Brady may have sacrificed his marriage to supermodel Gisele Bundchen for the worst season of his career, It could still end with a playoff appearance because the NFC South has been so bad this year, but I’m still not sure it’s worth it. Maybe that’s why I don’t have seven Super Bowl rings and he does.

Tampa were dismantled last week by the Brock Purdy-led 49ers and face another Lombardi contender in the Bengals on Sunday evening.

Cincinnati are dealing with injuries to several key players, but have shown in recent months that they can handle significant absences. Joe Burrow is one of the most exciting players in the league and is surrounded by offensive talent and a line that’s getting its act together.

Cincy are a real threat in the AFC as shown by their third straight win over the Chiefs in Week 13 and they cruised to a 23-10 victory over AFC North rivals Cleveland last week.

3.5 points is not a lot to ask them to cover here.

Anytime Touchdown: Ja’Marr Chase

Injuries in the Bucs secondary should have Ja’Marr Chase appearing in the box score prominently on Monday morning.

He’s over his own health issues, nabbed his seventh score of the season in nine appearances last week and with Tee Higgins and Hayden Hurst possibly limited, should be a big focal point for QB Burrow when they need to score.
