I normally don’t like backing against a divisional rival when they’re underdogs at home because of the sizeable historical disadvantage I’m putting myself in there, but the Bills can just move the ball too efficiently on third down – especially with Josh Allen’s legs.
To be clear, the Bills should be more careful with Allen given his potentially fragile arm, but given how much man coverage New England play, there’ll just be gaps for him to run into.
And for Mac? Well, given there’s been reports he’ll likely be replaced by Tom Brady next year, morale is probably at an all-time low for the man who’s not exactly matured into the prospect they’d hoped.
The Bills are too good at scheming up pressure. But that’s often to their detriment. A few years ago, it felt like they had the perfect counterpoint in stopping tight ends and running backs with linebacker Tremaine Edmunds but it’s not quite worked out.
Stevenson will get a lot of ball in hand to relieve pressure from Buffalo’s front seven. They’ll often run the ball only to promote their play-action game, and in this instance, they’ll likely fake the run to dump the ball off to Stevenson anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit this total by half-time.
Isaiah McKenzie to Score Anytime
Earning Josh Allen’s trust takes time. New England have been a brilliant outside corner team for a long, long time – so they know how to utilise safety leverage to make a team’s second receiver almost redundant.
What that means is you can forget about Gabe Davis taking over this game. What it does, however, is put extra pressure on the slot cornerback who’ll be in charge of marshalling McKenzie.
The nifty little receiver has been getting open at a steadying clip and I’d expect him to be wide open in designer plays on a frequent basis.
Stefon Diggs Under 84.5 Receiving Yards
JC Jackson was their elite cover corner last year, and he did a good job on Diggs. He did it through twitchy route-reaction and understanding where Diggs might go to get the ball.
But Jackson was frequently out-strengthened by Diggs at the line who needs separation. He uses his hands and body quite a lot to get open.
Jon Jones might be undersized but he’ll not allow Diggs a first step. I believe this will be a disappointing game for the star wideout.
