Chargers @ Cardinals: Chargers -3

The LA Chargers are coming off a heartbreaker against the Kansas City Chiefs that dropped them to 5-5 for the season. With 1:46 left in the fourth quarter on Sunday night they were up by a field goal on their division rivals, but that was too much time for Pat Mahomes.  Six plays later, Travis Kelce was celebrating in the endzone to win it 30-27.,

That has the potential to be a gut-punch for a Los Angeles team that’s never the most trustworthy despite their oodles of talent..

However, it’d have to be a Tyson Fury-like blow to the body to make the Chargers worse than a field goal against an Arizona Cardinals team that has seen this season mired in dysfunctional play and organisational decisions from the very start of the season.

It’s genuinely surprising they’re 4-7, and speaks more about their schedule than their quality. Injury to QB Kyler Murray has seen Colt McCoy deputise, and the fact that some murmurs suggest head coach Kliff Kingsbury might prefer the back-up over the explosive Murray tells you all you need to know about where Arizona are heading this season.

They were embarrassed on Monday night by the 49ers, they have very little homefield advantage given their woegeous record on their own turf in recent seasons, and even Murray’s probable return won’t change that. The Chargers -3 looks generous to me.

First Touchdown: Austin Ekeler

The Chargers running back has 11 scores on the season, 7 rushing and 4 passing. He’s had to feature with a number of injuries to other offensive threats but even without that he’s a huge playmaker and almost certain to get in the endzone if the Chargers play as well as they should here.

You could play it safe and go for him anytime at odds of around 4/9 (Bet Builder odds of 8/1) but given his prominence in the LA offence, a first TD play is justified here and juices up the odds on our Multi-Game Bet Builder significantly.

Raiders @ Seahawks: Seahawks -3.5

The Raiders won last week’s basement battle in the AFC West against the Broncos on a walk-off Davante Adams overtime touchdown, but it was not pretty. This season in general has been a mess for Vegas, and the chatter is that first-year head coach Josh McDaniels probably would be fired if the franchise could afford to payoff his massive contract.

Quarterback Derek Carr has not recreated last year’s play despite the addition of his old college teammate Adams to the receiving corps and this might be a team that’s looking at a rebuild next season despite committing huge assets to that trade in the past offseason.

By contrast, the Seahawks were supposed to be entering a rebuilding phase this season post-Russell Wilson but have stunned the league with Geno Smith as their starter. they were off last week after a trip to Munich to play the Bucs in Week 10, where they picked up a loss to go to 6-4 but remain in contention for the NFC West title.

They should get back to winning ways returning to Seattle against a silver-and-black roster that’s missing several key offensive pieces and doesn’t realistically have much to play for in a stacked AFC. Seahawks -3.5 is the play.

    Anytime Touchdown: Tyler Lockett

The Seahawks receivers might’ve expected his opportunities to be curtailed following the Wilson trade, but Tyler Lockett is on pace to match or best his usual production despite the change at signal-caller. He has 5 TDs this season so far, three of those coming in the last three games and all against tougher defences than the Raiders possess.

They’re giving up almost 250 yards per game through the air and rank last by a very large margin in defensive passing DVOA, a stat that accounts for the strength of opposition. Lockett should find the endzone again this week.
