A loss on Monday night and the Raiders may as well start tanking for next year’s draft, such is the hotly-contest nature of the wild card spots in the AFC, but are they really going to topple a Chiefs unit that’s put up 130 points so far?

Well, let’s find out…

Tuesday 1.16am: Las Vegas Raider @ Kansas City Chiefs

Las Vegas Raiders +7.5

My favourite lines are the ones that go against teams who’ve underperformed substantially but have a lot of talent.

It generally means you’ve got two outs.

The first of them is the team actually performs to a level close to their individual parts. Davante Adams, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow are all huge commodities and Josh Jacobs is rushing like a man possessed. They could well go close.

Otherwise, if the Chiefs go up two possessions, they’ll sit back into quarters coverage and Derek Carr will take points through a thousand underneath completions – remember, KC will want time drained, not to avoid points gained.

(7.5)

Under 51.5 Points

These teams know each other too well to be completely shocked by each other – that’s just the nature of divisional rivalries.

There’ll be a few three-and-outs as the early game script will be repetitive and familiar, only for Andy Reid to go into overdrive after the Raiders become accustomed to the same old pre-snap motions and then – wham.

But by the time this kicks in, it could be deep into the second quarter, not allowing for the points to be racked up like they need to be in a line this high.

Darren Waller Over 50.5 Receiving Yards

Hunter Renfrow used to be Mr. Third Down, but he’s been banged up and demoted because you simply need to move Davante Adams around the formation to maximise his efficiency.

When you do that, and you’re reliant on Mack Hollins to get you your receptions on dig routes and overs, it looks funky.

That’s not sustainable, meaning they’ll likely look at the success of both Gerald Everett and Jelani Woods and target Waller here.

The Chiefs got better at linebacker, but they’re downhill, run-stuffing backers. They’re not pass coverage guys. And losing Mathieu on top of that? Trouble.

Jerick McKinnon to Score a Touchdown

If you play fantasy football, you’ll understand that Clyde Edwards-Helaire is deceptive. He’s getting lots of scores from very little volume.

He’s actually getting fewer snaps than McKinnon who’s now their primary pass-catcher, and that will eventually result in scores.

Especially when you consider that KC will run a lot of screens to slow down Maxx Crosby, who, for my money, is the best run-defending edge player in the National Football League.
