9pm: Falcons @ Rams – Rams (-10.5)

Marcus Mariota is an interesting character. And by interesting, I mean he’s a player that nobody is keen to give up on because of his draft slot when Tennessee took him all those years ago.

Well, folks – it’s time to move on. Their offense consists of not getting Kyle Pitts involved and relying on a geriatric Cordarelle Patterson to craft up gimmick plays.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

The Rams have been savaged by Sean McVay and the Falcons have to travel cross country to face the Super Bowl champs. They’ll get Allen Robinson more involved here, and Matthew Stafford’s velocity won’t matter as much when Atlanta blanket cover the underneath stuff.

We’re also due a huge uptick from Cam Akers who was outshone by Darrell Henderson last week. Keep the faith. Good teams are good. I’m backing the Rams to clear the (-10.5) handicap.

9.25pm: Cardinals @ Raiders – Cardinals (+5.5)

Derek Carr has long been the quarterback who most people disagree on. Some think he’s a top-seven player at the position and some would have him cast off to the CFL.

I’m actually somewhere in the middle. His primary weakness is he cannot navigate a pocket that collapses.

And while Arizona mindlessly blitzed Patrick Mahomes last week, doing so here when they have Byron Murphy and Budda Baker to double Davante Adams is a recipe to keep Vegas limited.

They won’t score more than 20 points against Arizona, so I’m happy for the Cardinals to cover the (+5.5) handicap.

9.25pm: Bengals @ Cowboys – Bengals (-7.5)

Oh boy, Cooper Rush SZN is upon us and that is not pretty. Here’s how this game will go – Cincinnati will have heard all the criticism about their lack of protection for Joe Burrow, so they’ll double and chip Micah Parsons on one side and then get the quick game going.

That’ll be enough to score north of 24 points against a Dallas defense that’s a lot stronger in the deep field than they are in the shallow. Will the Cowboys manage to score at all?

Is Cooper Rush not just the name of a cover band doing the rounds in Berkshire? Who knows? Back Bengals (-7.5).

9.25pm: Texans @ Broncos – Broncos (-9.5)

The only thing that remains true is that Denver is the toughest place to go in the NFL, within the context of the strength of the Broncos. Even when they’re terrible, they’re about a coin toss away from winning and I maintain that.

Houston’s offense hasn’t made strides and given Rex Burkhead is still the lead back there as they seem afraid of Dameon Pierce, they’re limiting their scope to score points against a defense that devour weak offensive lines.

Russell Wilson may be regressing but he’s well able to keep a drive alive and given last week’s slap on the wrist, the ball will be firmly in his hands now. We conclude with Broncos (-9.5).
