It’s Christmas and we’re hoping for a cracker of Week 16 in the NFL.

And just in case you’re fed up of dealing with your relations on Christmas Day, the NFL has decided to put on a few games on to pass the time – it beats watching Willy Wonka… again!

Tom Carnduff The Sporting Life got into the festive spirit by giving us his Xmas day best bets…

Cleveland Browns at Green Bay Packers

Christmas Day, 9:30pm, Sky Sports Main Event

I have to go with the Green Bay Packers here on the handicap, even at the huge deficit of -7.5 points. The Packers have been in great form Lambeau Field, winning their last six home game, while the Browns have been awful recently. They’ve lost three-of-four on their travels. They’ve struggled to put together any kind of run of results, so the Packers should be able to capitalise on that inconsistency.

It’s worth noting as well that, if you’d backed Green Bay to cover 8 points in each of those home wins those six home wins this term, they’d have done the job for you in every single one of them! We’ll back them to continue that trend on Christmas Day.

Handicap: Green Bay (-7.5)

(-7.5)

When it comes to picking a TD scorer, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I’ve been keen on Davante Adams a lot this campaign and he keeps coming up for me, so there’s little reason to believe he can’t continue to do so here.

And I’d be even more confident about it this week because of how quiet he was against the Ravens in Week 15 – and he still found the endzone there! The Browns defence isn’t bad against the pass, but it’s also strong versus the run, so we’ll side with Adams – who averages a huge 96 yards per game receiving.

Anytime TD Scorer: Davante Adams

Carson Wentz Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts @ Arizona Cardinals

Boxing Day, 1:15am, Sky Sports Main Event

I’ll take the Colts (+2) on the road in this one. The Cardinals have had a tricky run recently, including last week’s shocking 18-point defeat to the lowly Detroit Lions – imagine putting that with Tom Brady getting shut-out in a bet for Week 15. It would’ve meant a very happy Christmas indeed!

That Arizona loss underline where they are as team at the moment, with three losses in five after a very hot start to the season. They face a Colts team trending upwards with five wins in their last six games and four wins on the road in their last five, so we’ll take them with a few extra points here.

Handicap: Indianapolis (+2)

(+2)

The handicap cover would make a nice double with Jonathan Taylor in the Anytime Touchdown Scorer market. He’s not going to be the biggest price of course, but he’s so consistent it’s hard to look any further.

He drew a blank in his first three games of the season, but has had 11 consecutive scoring games since then –  which includes four games with multiple TDs, and also that five TD masterpiece against the Buffalo Bills!

The Cardinals are also one of the best teams in the league against the pass – only Chicago, New England, Carolina and Buffalo are seeing fewer average passing yards per game, so the Colts will probably look to run the ball here. Taylor always looks good to score, but even more so this week given the opposition.

Anytime TD Score: Jonathan Taylor
