We love the action on the gridiron here at Paddy Power about as much as Aaron Rodgers loves continuously beating the Chicago Bears! But, yet again, one of our customers has hit us harder than Aaron Donald smashes every quarterback he sees in the NFL.

That’s because our winner – who hails from Co Clare in Ireland – sacked us for €4,130 off only a €10 stake, beating whopping odds of 412/1 in the process. To put that into prospective, that’s higher odds than you’ll get on Miami Dolphins or the Atlanta Falcons winning the Superbowl this year, and – with all due respect – that isn’t happening!

Our winner placed the fantastic four-fold Bet Builder on Sunday’s late game in the NFL as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks played out a ding-dong battle at Heinz Field. Of course, our victor needed a lot (and we mean A LOT) of luck along the way, so let’s tell you how the cash was claimed.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Our customer needed a bit of Mike Tomlin trickery to secure the first leg on the betslip as he backed Steelers tight-end Eric Ebron to score a touchdown at anytime during the game. Ebron is known for his highlight reel catches as a big man, but he is very rarely turned to when it comes to the ground game.

But, with the Steelers perched on the 1-yard line and on 3rd And Goal and just a minute remaining in the first half, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger surprisingly handed it to Ebron to run it in to make the game 14-0 to the home side. The score was only Ebron’s third ever rushing TD in his career and gave his team a healthy lead going into the break.

Next on the hitlist was an anytime touchdown for Will Dissly of the Seahawks. This tight-end went the conventional route for his position this time though, as he popped up in the third quarter to bring his team right back into the game.

With the Steelers leading 17-7 at the time, Seahawks’ QB Geno Smith – who was filling in for the injured Russell Wilson – pulled off a beautifully worked play-action pass to Dissly as they looked to get over from a yard out. Dissly proved a safe pair of hands, as always, to snatch the ball out of the air and take it in for six points – bringing our customer’s bet halfway home in the process.

We are going to talk about the final two bets as a pair, as they’re as connected as Josh Allen is to Stefon Diggs! Firstly, our bettor needed the game to stay under 43.5 total points and, on top of that, the Steelers to win by 1-13 points was also required for the plucky punt to come in. So, as the home outfit led 20-17 going down the stretch, our customer must have felt home and hosed.

However, the Seahawks drove down the field and somehow managed to spike the ball with only one second remaining on the clock, giving kicker Jason Myers a shot of drawing – or “tying”, if you speak Americanese – the game from 43 yards out. Of course, he calmly slotted the kick to make it 20-20, sending the contest into overtime.

It was surely a gutting moment for our winner, as now only a winning field goal would land the loot because of the total points leg of the bumper Bet Builder. The teams swapped possession in overtime, meaning the game was now next score wins and then, thankfully for our winner, Geno Smith decided to go rouge from his own 15-yard line!

The back-up quarterback inexplicably ignored five of his men putting on perfect blocks to his right and decided to rush right down the middle of the Steelers defence only to be met by the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL TJ Watt. Watt forced a fumble from Smith, which was ultimately recovered by Steelers linebacker Devin Bush after a scramble.

Steelers kicker Chris Boswell marched out for a 37-yard field goal to win the game (and our bet), and he did the business to send Heinz Field wild, as well as our victor into dreamland! It was a breath-taking bet and with €4,132 now in hand, all we can do is tip our cap to our winner.
