We are into week six in the NFL and Thursday Night Football has a huge clash now as the defending Superbowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers head north to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. So, we’ve grabbed Paddy Power Trader Dan Whitty has given us his savvy bet builder for this one…
Brady and his Buccs come into Thursday night on the back of an imperious performance last Sunday as the dismantled the Miami Dolphins 25-17 at Raymond James Stadium. Brady had his second five-touchdown game of the season, so they heading to Lincoln Financial Field as one of the league’s best offenses.
The Eagles should still get their chances in this game though, as the Buccs have the NFL’s worst pass defence and the likes of Devonta Smith and Jalen Reagor should be able to make some chunk plays for Nick Sirianni’s men.

However, the Eagles will still be doing well to keep up with Bruce Arians’ high powered offense. The Eagles recently faced a similar style of offense against the Chiefs in Week 4 and they were not able to keep pace. I can see the Buccs having too many weapons for the Eagles to handle and Tampa should be easily able to pull away in the end to cover the handicap.
Philly’s first round pick Devonta Smith has hit the ground running in The City of Brotherly Love. He has hauled in the ball 25 times for 314 yards so far and looks to be the number one target downfield for Jalen Hurts.
The negative to that is he hasn’t seen much action in the redzone with only a single TD there so far. However, with tight-end Dallas Goedert doubtful and the Tampa defense likely to stop Hurtz from running into the endzone, it could beneficial to Smith. Hopefully, he can add another touchdown to his season tally here.
When facing NFC opponents Overs has hit 22 times out of the last 28 Buccaneers games. So, with the fact that the Eagles will need to put up points to keep up with the Buccs explosive attack, we should get a high scoring game on Thursday night.
Tampa might look to put less work on Tom Brady’s shoulders after a short week, so Leonard Fournette could be the man to pick up that load. He has averaged 16 carries and 5 yards per carry in the last 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have one of the worst rush defenses in the league this year – allowing 142 yards per game. They’ve also allowed running-backs to notch up yards in the last the weeks – 95, 102, 101 yards racked up respectively. All that means it’s hard not to see Fournette doing the same on Thursday.
Philadelphia seem to be devoid of a proper running game and the majority of their rushing yards have come from their quarterback Hurtz. He shouldn’t get the same freedom of the pitch as he has in weeks prior here, as he’s coming up against a stout run defense. Tampa has only given up a shade under 46 rush yards per game and they should be more than capable of stopping him.
