FRIDAY 1.20AM: Jaguars @ Bengals
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports NFL

Bengals to Win

This is the battle of the last two first overall all picks in the NFL draft, and you’d hope that’d mean it turns out to be a good game but I am not expecting a classic.

The Jags have taken a seminal talent in Trevor Lawrence, they have been just awful this season so far. They rank as having one of the worst defences in the league in terms of points and yards allowed, and they also have a hard time pressuring the opponent’s QBs.

Lawrence has already suffered more defeat in his NFL career than he did in college and high school combined.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

The Bengals have a winning record and are on top of the AFC East after beating the Steelers last week, but they are not a great team either. Defensively, they’d be slightly better than Jacksonville, and quarterback Joe Burrow’s extra year of experience in the league could count for something.

I wouldn’t put anyone off the Bengals Winning Margin 1-13 points, but I don’t expect this to be a high-scoring game so I’d just go with the Bengals to win.

Ja’marr Chase to Score Anytime TD

Chase was Burrow’s former teammate at LSU in college, and the Bengals used their first-round pick last April to reunite them and it’s been paying off so far. They’ve been electric so far, with four TDs for Chase in three games already.

He had stellar game against the Steelers last week and I find it hard to see the poor Jags defence doing a better job against him.

Joe Burrow: Over 253.5 Passing Yards

The Jags are giving up on average about 300 yards per game through the first three weeks. Burrow’s improving both his efficiency and accuracy as a passer in year two. The only concern is he might throw the occasional interception still, but with the Jags defence playing so badly 253.5 looks a low line to me.

James Robinson: Over 51.5 Rushing Yards

With Lawrence not really up to the Nfl level so far, the Jags have started to lean on their ground game. Jame Robinson has been their main rusher, going from 5 to 11, to 15 touches in the last three weeks. His production is ascending and the 51.5 line looks low notwithstanding the Bengals’ top ten rushing defence.
