The NFL returns this weekend and all roads lead to Los Angeles for Super Bowl LVI, which will be held in SoFi Stadium. Throughout the season our NFL trader Daniel Whitty will be on hand to give us his best selections for the big games.

And we have some cracking games to get started with as some big guns in the AFC clash. Firstly, the Pittsburgh Steelers head to Buffalo to take on the Bills and then the Cleveland Browns take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, on Monday night the Las Vegas Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens in a cracker.

Sunday 18:00 Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills: Steelers (+6.5) and Najee Harris Anytime TD scorer

The Steelers had an excellent start to last season, but finished badly and got dumped out in the playoffs by Cleveland. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season in Pittsburgh, and I reckon they could represent a bit of value here getting 6.5 points. It’s a tough opener for the Bills, as they’ve lost five of their last six games against Pittsburgh.

The Bills have a poor record when they are attempting to give their opponents so many points, and if TJ Watt is tuned up for this one, I believe Pittsburgh’s defence can limit Josh Allen and keep this one close. In the TD markets, it’s hard to look beyond Pittsburgh’s rookie running-back Najee Harris. The Alabama product was the first running-back taken in the draft and it looks like Pittsburgh will be leaning on him a lot.

* A double on these best bets pays at approximately 2/1 with Paddy Power.

Sunday 21:25 Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs: First Half Handicap – Chiefs (-3.5) and Tyreek Hill first TD scorer

This game could be a prelude to the AFC Championship game as both squads look very deep. But, in the early stages of the season, it’s worth backing the Chiefs to come out of the traps quickly. Backing the Chiefs (-3.2) on the half time handicap line could be the way to go here. The Browns have a couple of injury worries with Jadeveon Clowney and Odell Beckham Jr Beckham doubtful.

The Chiefs meanwhile usually come out firing and have scored more in the first half of their games in 11 out of 16 games last season. Patrick Mahomes has been flawless in September so far in his career and I expect the Chiefs to hit the ground running, so don’t be surprised if they can build up an early lead on the Browns.

In the touchdown markets, I will be concentrating on Tyreek Hill. The Chiefs wide receiver has Olympic standard speed and I expect him to give the Browns secondary a torrid time by notching the first six-pointer.

* A double on these best bets pays at approximately 7/1 with Paddy Power.

Tuesday 01:20 Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders: Ravens -4.5, Lamar Jackson Anytime TD Scorer and Under 50.5 match points

The first Monday Night Football is another intriguing AFC clash as the Ravens head to Sin City to take on the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s good for the home team to finally play in their new stadium in front of their fans, but I don’t see a happy ending for them in this one. The Raiders ranked 22nd against the run last season and I can see them struggling against a Ravens outfit that love pounding the rock.

Despite losing running-back JK Dobbins for the season, I can still see them running the ball well and they should be able to cover the (-4.5) line. Lamar Jackson should score more than the seven rushing TDs he had last season and he is solid value to score an anytime touchdown. The points line looks too high to me, and I will be adding under 50.5 match points to my Bet Builder too.
