There are only eight teams remaining in the quest for Super Bowl LV heading into this weekend, with reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs re-entering the fray as they look to retain their crown.
Paddy Power NFL trader Ian Dent expects the Chiefs to be given a tough time by the Cleveland Browns in their clash on Sunday, while our main man has also priced up a tempting bet builder for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ visit to the New Orleans Saints.
I ruled the Cleveland Browns out last week but they caused a bit of an upset so I’m reversing my thoughts and going for them on the handicap. It is a lot of points and the Kansas City Chiefs have been poor this season when going up against the spread – they haven’t covered too many times.
I think the other thing that is important here is that the Chiefs have had two full weeks of rest, so that will go one of two ways. They will either come out a little bit rusty and take a while to get going, or they will be very well-rested and will start off quickly.
The key for the Browns to keep this close will be to run the ball well and potentially get a lead early. The textbook was last week, when they were 28-0 up after the first quarter. If they do that again, they’ll be laughing. I expect them to keep things close – the Chiefs will probably still win but hopefully the Browns can make a game of it.
The Cleveland players are all slightly bigger prices than normal here for Anytime Touchdown Scorer, and Austin Hooper is currently 5/2. I like that, as he had a decent game last week with seven catches for 46 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Baker Mayfield has been leaning on him a lot more in the last few weeks with no Odell Beckham, so it’s mainly Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper in the passing game. There is definitely value there.
For this one, we’re going for the New Orleans Saints to win the match on the Moneyline, we’re going for Alternate Total Points Over 49.5 and we’re going for Deonte Harris Anytime Touchdown Scorer. That will come out at around 14/1 in a Bet Builder.
These two teams met twice in the regular season, with the Saints winning in Week 1 – that was obviously a long time ago now – and they beat them again fairly recently 38-3. They’ve got a strong record against them, but since that defeat the Buccaneers have been very impressive and Tom Brady has clicked into gear with his offence and his receivers.
I think it will be close, but I think the Saints can pull it out. They’ve had such bad luck over the last few years so it would be great to see them go on a run here.
With the Alternate Total Points Over, you’re just getting a couple points from the Mainline at 51.5. I still think it will be fairly high scorer but it should be a close game so we’re just taking a little bit of a chance that we get 49.5 on the total.
Deonte Harris was quite involved last week, with Drew Brees going to him a number of times. He had seven catches for 83 yards against the Chicago Bears, and he showed off what we all know – he’s extremely fast. He should be able to get open, and you’re also got the chance that he will return a punt or a kick-off for a touchdown so there are a couple of ways Harris can get into the end zone.
He had 20 catches throughout the season, with just one touchdown, so that’s why he’s such a big price but I fancy his chances here and he’s a little bit of value. Harris looks like he might be emerging as No 2 receiver for the Saints, and they’ve lacked a little bit there this season.
