Just eight teams remain in the quest for Super Bowl LV, and the race to Tampa is really heating up. The wild card weekend threw up a couple of surprises, and there is the potential for more to come with the No 1 seeds in the AFC and NFC – Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers – about to re-enter the fray.

Throughout the playoffs, our NFL trader Ian Dent will be sharing his best bets and he has a nice double for the first two games being played on Saturday.

Double – Packers (-6.5) and Bills (-2.5)

9.35pm, Saturday: Los Angeles Rams @ Green Bay Packers – Packers (-6.5)

Saturday’s first game sees the Packers host the Rams. The Packers have been very strong at home lately; they’ve only lost one game at home all season, against the Vikings. And Green Bay tend to play even better when the weather gets colder.

The Rams on the other hand have got some serious injury issues. Aaron Donald, who is a defensive player of the year candidate, is struggling with a rib injury. It sounds like Donald may play injured, and that is a massive blow to them.

On the other side of the ball, the Rams are really struggling at quarterback. They started John Wolford last week against the Seattle Seahawks, but he got injured early and they then had to turn to Jared Goff, who is just coming off thumb surgery. Goff somehow managed to get them over the line but they face a much bigger test in Green Bay against Aaron Rodgers in conditions he thrives in.

The key match-up in this will between Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams and LA Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey. That is a battle the Rams must win if they are to have any chance, but I think Green Bay will have too much for them and I can see the home team covering the handicap here.

(-6.5)

1.15am, Sunday: Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills – Bills (-2.5)

The second game is probably the game of the weekend between arguably the NFL’s two form teams as the Baltimore Ravens head up to Buffalo to take on the Bills. There’s a 40% chance of snow in this game currently, and I think these conditions should favour the Bills.

The Bills have a well-balanced team led by quarterback Josh Allen and with home advantage and with some fans to cheer them on, I think they can cover -2 points here.

Lamar Jackson showed why he was last season’s MVP with that touchdown he ran in against the Tennessee Titans in the wild card game but he has never played in a snow game before. While he is dangerous and always respected, I think home advantage will be the deciding factor and the Bills should shade this.

(-2.5)
