David Haye has offered to help Conor McGregor with his trash talking after the Irishman’s disappointing display during the press conference for Saturday’s trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.
Former heavyweight champion Haye, renowned for such trash talking gems as ‘your mum’, claims he’s willing to school the occasional UFC star.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
“Conor wasted several opportunities to shut Poirier down by not bringing his mother into it’, Haye told Paddy Power News.
“I was sat at home watching the press conference and thinking to myself why isn’t he saying ‘your mum’?
“It’s the ultimate comeback and can be used in response to absolutely anything your opponent says.
“I was also a proponent of the ‘I know you are but what am I?’ tactic. I remember using that one on Wladimir Klitschko and lived in his head rent free after that.
“If all else fails, Conor could always cover his ears and say ‘lalalalalala’ whenever Poirier tries to speak to him. It never fails’, added the 40-year-old.
McGregor, who famously quipped “I’d like to take this chance to apologise… to absolutely nobody” after defeating Eddie Alvarez in 2016, resorted to making fun of Poirier’s own brand of hot sauce.
The Notorious even threw bottles of the sauce off the stage which landed beside the audience.
However, the stunt backfired when some people launched the bottles back at the 32-year-old.
“We thought they were bottles of whiskey,” revealed one audience member, Chuck Glass. McGregor also took aim at Jake and Logan Paul by calling the brothers a pair of ‘dingbats’.
Jake Paul previously challenged the Irishman to an exhibition bout but now claims he’s focusing on the biggest fight of his life – trying to grow a moustache.
“This is my biggest challenge so far,” Jake told Paddy Power News. “But if I ever do fight Conor, I hope he hits me harder than puberty did,” he said while stroking three wispy blonde hairs above his upper lip.
