We all know 2020 hasn’t been a great year for anyone, but thankfully we have sport to provide us with a few bright spots, and Joaquin Buckley’s bolt from the blue at UFC Fight Island 5 was one of those moments. You know it’s good when Dana White is asking the question “Is this the greatest KO in UFC history?”
Buckley was taking on Impa Kasanganay in a middleweight bout when in the second round of their contest he countered his opponent’s attempt to grab his leg by unleashing a spinning back kick, landing it flush on the kisser.
The unsuspecting Kasanganay, stiff as a board from the impact, promptly toppled over in slow motion as the referee quickly waved off the bout.
Enough talking, you just need to watch it. Check it out from multiple angles below:
As you can imagine, social media was flooded with love for the KO – which is only the fourth recorded spinning back kick knockout in UFC – and the great and the good of MMA were quick to praise Buckley’s highlight reel finish.
Obviously, Buckley took home one of the four coveted Performance of the Night awards and earned himself an extra $50,000 bonus in the process. He’ll also have a place on all those YouTube KO compilation videos you watch on the toilet from now on.
